Before you can understand a computer chip, you need to understand the material it’s carved from. This section builds up the physics of semiconductors from scratch — starting with atoms, moving through energy bands, and ending with the trick (called “doping”) that turns plain silicon into something that can compute. No prior physics or electronics background is assumed.
